What is the go with this statement? I have beenon this site a long time and now I am seeing this being posted on a lot of profiles - Sydney University and all other institutions using this site or its associated sites for projects - You do not have permission from me to use any of my profile or pictures in any form or forum both current and future. If you have or do, it will be considered a violation of my privacy and will be subject to legal ramifications.
Well i have seen this across a few.. sites.. over time and my understanding of this.. folks do research and so on... Normally they dont use names.. and such. But folks believe by saying this, it protects them.
Now i could be wrong... but what i have been told, when i asked about this on another site. If a site is looking after members. then the site as its privacy statements... in place. And unless they use your nic name on the site, and mention it in any documents and so on. Else where, the. folks would be breaking it.
This is to protect members.
So i look at it this way.. YOU dont want information used.... or seen, is more likely the better word. Well you dont put it up. And you dont give it to anyone, unless your willing to talk on phones or meet in person. Its a bit like, walking down the street i think, and some one likes the look of you, and asks where you live... Really.. do you give away your whole address...??
Oh and this is written as a member and not a mod.. so dont shoot me.. this is just from my understanding and what i have been told, when i asked.
Thanks Rose and Phil,
Thanks for the answers. It just had me curious that's all, I saw it once ages ago and now it seems that a lot more people have it on their profile. As for the privacy, I follow my work rules here by never putting anything out there that you don't want to ever come back and bite you on your arse. I prefer to keep that information for face to face meets.
Thanks again
Man
