An Aussie calls it Arse, an American calls it an Ass. Isn't it just a bum? Except Anal sex makes it a...........? (anus?) What should we call it?
It can be a very complex description - it depends on the situation, who you are referring to, M or F, compliment or insult. I my opinion (and I could be wrong) Arse - I don't think it could be used as a compliment to a woman and is usually meant as an insult to a man. arse-hole, kick up the arse. Ass - the American description but can be an insult as well as a compliment - make an ass of himself - an ass is a donkey and ass-hole Bum - so many definations both good and bad. does my bum look big in this, bum a cigarette, you are a bum. Backside, rear-end, bottom are just some of many descriptions but none of them a nice sound if meant as a description of woman you are trying to attract or compliment. My favourite word to describe that part of the female anatomy is derriere (derry-air) - the french word for bottom, it has a pleasant sound and definately can only be taken as a compliment. If you are too afraid to use it, you are not trying - what sounds better... You have a lovely arse or you have a lovely derriere...
oh good post bbinder!

Could not agree more - nothing better than a well padded rump to cuddle into on a cold winters night... ( Y )
Glad you didn't include the other Americanism.... "fanny". That one just doesn't sound right. loon As for me, I like the good old British "backside"!
