can anyone tell me if the bath house at 431 pultney st adelaide is open to females as my partner and I would like to use the facilities but dont want to offend the regular clientel
unfortunately not. The current management won't hear of it.
Some time ago there were rumours that they were going to have couples nights, but another member phoned & asked the question . she was told in no uncertain manner , definatly not!!!!!.
A couple of weeks ago when I was there a couple of guys were saying that there may be a change in ownership in the near future.
The facts of this I can not vouch for, but maybe if there is, there may also be a change in policy.
thankyou for your help ... and it is unfortunate. My straight male partner and myself (bi female) went to a bath house in sydney recently and although it had a predominantly a gay clientel , we were able to use the facilities without incident. judging by the friendly chit chat we had with a few people. my presence was not an issue at all . It was really enjoyable and we felt relaxed , clean and fresh after leaving . It is rather amusing to me that a member of a community who has experienced stigma and have needed to fight for their rights over their life could have such a closed mind. perhaps 1 day a fortnight which was open to people from the gay lesbian transgender bisexual and straight communities. Unless someone wants to finance a new facility for an open minded girl like me to run for them .hahahah
