Perseverance is required my friend. In the chat  rooms set your member list to nearby and say hello to people in the main chat. Don't whisper unless you ask someone first. You can be little cheeky with innuendoes but don't get too smutty. If there is a meet'n'greet gathering close by, then get to it, most are fantastic and you actually get to see members face to face. If you message someone try to add a lot more than, "hi, how are you" by adding what you are seeking and list a few similarities that the person(s) you are messaging have with in their profile.  Yes read their profile first.
